At the end of September, we welcomed two representatives of the Costa Rican registry. Our colleagues from Costa Rica have been using our registry system FRED for several years to manage their domain space, but most of our communication has taken place in writing. The opportunity for another in-person meeting was therefore exciting for both sides.
We hoped the visit would not only strengthen our cooperation but also allow us to exchange practical knowledge related to running a domain registry.
Together, we focused on both general and specific topics concerning registry operations. Our developers first introduced the detailed functionality of the entire system. This was followed by two days with our system administrators, who discussed configuration specifics as well as our standard operational procedures. In return, the colleagues from Costa Rica presented their infrastructure and the challenges they are currently facing. As part of a short break, the head of our IT department also gave them a tour of our data center.
The meeting was a valuable source of inspiration, bringing new ideas, feedback, and suggestions for improving not only our technical documentation. Our goal is not just to enhance support and continue developing the software itself, but also to share know-how related to registry operations as a whole.
“We also shared a few tips for more efficient management of Proxmox. I hope our proven practices will help them fine-tune their own environment.” adds Jiří Morariu
Thank you for the visit, we look forward to further collaboration!
